Defeat at home to Ipswich Town Women. How do you assess the afternoon?

“It was a difficult match against a quality team. They are a great side with some fantastic players.

“What is probably the most disappointing thing was giving them opportunities in the opening stages of the game that led to the first two goals.

“Individual errors were frustrating as they put us on the back foot.

“I think we grew into the game and got better as the game went on. We certainly caused them problems.

“There are definite positives from today because there were debuts for new players.

“We are in a better place off the back of the game, but it was a frustrating afternoon overall.”

How did the two early goals affect what our game plan was heading into the match?

“We worked on a couple things in the build-up that were not quite right in the game. Our players developed this during the game and we improved.

“The pressure is taken off when you go behind by a couple goals and you can enjoy playing with the ball to try and cause some problems of your own.”

The girls showed great character to get a goal back against a strong Ipswich side in testing weather conditions which must have been encouraging to see?

“We started to create opportunities and entrances into their box. There is still work for us to do and we need better passing in the final third so that our strikers can finish off the chances.

“With that better quality we will have more chances and score more goals. There are definite positives from the end of the game to take with us.”

It was a clever free kick from Danielle Puddefoot that earned us the penalty. Was that something we had been working on in training?

“We work on set-pieces in training and the delivery was strong. Flo got herself in a great position to win the penalty and the spot-kick was fantastic too.

“Danielle converted brilliantly and deserved the goal. She played well and covered a lot of ground for us.”

There were more minutes for Courtnay Ward-Chambers and a couple debuts for our newest recruits today.

“We are excited to have the new girls coming in and we knew that we wanted to continue strengthening the squad.

“We have given ourselves some good depth all throughout the squad, not only those that played with us today, but those that missed out on the squad today.

“We are all massively pleased to get Jo Wilson back on the pitch and I am so excited to have her here. I think she could be hugely influential for us.

“Hannah Porter was also superb for us today as she gave us a real anchor point and calmness in the backline.

“It has been wonderful to have back a few players that have been suffering from knocks.”

We are away at Stadium MK in midweek so it will be a very quick turnaround to get prepared for that one?

“It is difficult with the scheduling at this level because the girls are all coming off the back of working full-time jobs.

“It is a fantastic opportunity to play at Stadium MK and is a wonderful facility with the type of pitch you want to play on.”

The fans were out in force again today. How pleasing is that to see?

“It is always amazing to see them and I hope we can continue to grow and show them some brilliant football over the next couple of weeks.”
