The Bees started 2022 strongly after winning 5-0 away at Chichester & Selsey in the FA Women’s National League.

Sian Osmond’s started on the front foot and went close in the 5th minute when Megan Wood got on the end of Jo Wilson’s inswinging corner and flicked it narrowly wide of the far post.

Chichester responded with a chance of their own after Sophie Lee halted a counter-attack before the loose ball was played towards Hammond who pulled her shot past the post.

Jo Wilson had a lofted shot headed off the line shortly after she had found space from a tight angle on the edge of the box.

The Bees continued with their pressure but still couldn’t find a way through before Natasha Wild let fly across goal to force Hazelton into a comfortable save just before the interval.

Chichester almost found the opener at the start of the second-half when Amelia Simmonds was found in the box and struck goalwards.

Her effort took a deflection however Hazelton adjusted herself well to get down low and make the save.

Sian Osmond’s side broke the deadlock in the 56th minute after Frankie Webster was found on the right before she looked up and picked out Lauren Heria in the centre.

The Bees’ skipper had enough space to sweep the ball into the bottom left corner and past goalkeeper Izzy Foster.

It was a special moment for Ashleigh Goddard who marked her incredible recovery from the stroke she suffered six months ago after being substituted on for Frankie Webster in the 66th minute.

Only two minutes later, Wilson doubled the Bees’ lead when she got on the end of Jade Bell’s low cross and tapped home from close-range at the front post.

A period of pressure for the hosts followed but solid challenges from Wood and Sophie Lee denied Chichester a chance to pull one back.

The Bees added a third in the 79th minute when Foster fumbled a looping cross into the box.

Jade Bell reacted to the loose ball first before firing it home after having her initial shot blocked by Sienna Howell.

Sian Osmond’s side scored a fourth in the 86th minute after Bell drilled the ball across the face of goal to Millie Constatine who was there to tap in and score her first senior goal.

Wilson scored her second and the Bees’ fifth of the afternoon in the 90th minute when she raced through on goal and stayed calm to slot the ball beneath the goalie and ensure that her side would take home all three points.
