The Bees secured back-to-back wins in the FA Women’s National League – winning 4-0 at home to Gillingham Women FC.

After a quiet opening five minutes, Gillingham went close with the first chance of the game when Kara Fordjour went past her defender and crossed into Amy Russ who struck her effort just over the crossbar.

The Bees looked to break the deadlock in the opening stages when they piled pressure which led to Danielle Puddefoot finding space to shoot just over the goal.

Sian Osmond’s side took the lead in the 25th minute after Courtnay Ward-Chambers whipped in a free-kick towards Hannah Porter at the back-post, who headed home to score her first goal for the Club.

The Gills No. 11, Fordjour continued to threaten as she won a corner to allow Megan Maslak to cross in a deep ball for Jasmine Auguste to attack.

The Bees’ stood their ground and defended resiliently to clear the danger and keep their lead.

Early on into the second-half, the visitors applied some early pressure as Amy Russ created a chance for Amy Haynes who slotted just wide of the goal with a low fizzing effort.

Osmond’s side almost doubled their advantage when Gamby was played through on goal by Ward-Chambers, but her shot was blocked well by the Gillingham defence.

Gamby was quickly involved again as she won a corner for the hosts. Ward-Chambers put the resulting set-piece into Porter who rose highest to nod in and score her second goal of the game.

Midway through the second period, the visitors almost pulled one back when Fordjour brought the ball down the right side before finding space to deliver a low, fast cross that evaded everyone inside the box.

The Bees went close again when Jo Wilson threaded the ball through to Nikki Jancey who shot just past the post from distance.

Shortly after, Jancey returned the favour by playing through Wilson on goal who finished calmly past Cara Davies’ left-post to make it 3-0 to Osmond’s side.

The Gills looked to find a way back into the game through Fordjour who was involved yet again as broke into the final third and cut back inside to let fly and clip the crossbar with a 20-yard shot.

Sian Osmond’s side rounded off a significant afternoon with minutes remaining when Flo Gamby picked out Ward-Chambers from a corner.

The Bees’ No.9 headered back across goal, past the outstretched arms of the Gillingham stopper to ensure that the three points stayed at The Hive London.
