The Bees secured their league survival in FA Women’s National League – drawing 2-2 against Plymouth Argyle at The Hive London, Pitch A.
Jo Wilson had a clear chance to open the scoring in the eighth minute when she was sent clean through on goal before being denied her 15th goal of the season by the Plymouth goalie.
Wilson had another opportunity later in the half when she found space inside the area to shoot at goal, but the effort was cleared off the line by Panagiota Papaionnou.
The deadlock was broken midway through the first-half as Hannah Coote’s cross from the left side flew above Jasmine Read and into the far top corner.
Crosses from Jade Bell and Coote were a constant danger to the Argyle backline in the opening period, with a Bell cross bouncing off the crossbar in the 43rd minute.
The second-half saw the visitors start to put pressure on the Bees’ defenders which started with a deep free-kick which was met by Natasha Knapman who headed the ball narrowly wide.
The Pilgrims equalised just before the hour mark as she kept composed after being put through on goal to place her shot past Faye Hazelton in the bottom corner.
The Bees’ were awarded a penalty shortly afterwards when Wilson was fouled in the box by Read.
Danielle Puddefoot stepped up to the spot and lashed the ball off both posts before eventually crossing the line to restore the Bees’ advantage.
Hannah Porter thought she had put the hosts 3-1 up in the 67th minute when she nodded the ball into the net from a Wilson corner, however the referee deemed there to be a foul in the build-up.
In the 74th minute Faye Hazelton prevented Plymouth from equalising once again when Gabrielle Alphous’ effort was smothered by the ‘keeper.
Hazelton was called into action again in the 83rd minute when Alphous’ initial strike was tipped away before Pollock’s rebound was sent wide of the target.
The visitors’ late pressure paid off when Knapman picked out Pollock in the centre of the box who poked the ball home to share the spoils in the final match of the season.
