Portsmouth gained three points in the FA Women’s National League – beating the Bees 4-0 at The Hive London, Pitch A.

Sian Osmond’s side started the match with a lot of energy as runs from Frankie Webster and Jo Wilson caused trouble for Portsmouth’s defence.

In the fifth minute, the Bees’ pressure earned them a corner which Danielle Puddefoot narrowly headed over.

Shortly afterwards Faye Hazelton made an impressive save low to her right-hand side to deny the visitors, as Anaisa Harney sent a chipped ball through to Cherelle Khassal who shot goalwards.

The visitors opened the scoring in the 9th minute when Shannon Albuery converted a penalty that was earned for a shove from a Bees defender.

Jade Bell and Flo Gamby worked hard to bring their side back into the game as the latter let fly after controlling a throw-in. Hannah Haughton was equal to it and caught the shot.

The visitors doubled their advantage in the 17th minute, with Albuery scoring her second of the game with a curling effort that found the top left corner of Hazelton’s goal.

Portsmouth looked to extend their advantage in the 31st minute when a deep free-kick was launched into the box which caused chaos on the goalline, but the Bees managed to clear the ball away.

Sian Osmond’s side pushed late in the half for a goal back and were awarded a corner which forced a fine save out of the Pompey goalie, as Gamby’s header had to be pushed around the post.

Shannon Albuery added a third in the 45th minute when Portsmouth won a second penalty of the game which was scored by the attacker to complete her hat-trick.

The second-half started with the visitors pushing hard for a fourth goal which led to a curling effort from the left side which was deflected out for a corner.

The Bees looked to respond with a corner from Dan Carlton that created a scramble in the opposition box, though the ball was eventually cleared away to safety.

Anna Harney scored the fourth for the visitors in the 60th minute, connecting with a pass from Khassal before finishing past Hazelton.

Wilson almost pulled one back in the 72nd minute when her free-kick from distance clipped the top of the crossbar.

The visitors pushed hard for a fifth in the closing stages as Pompey’s No. 3 went close in the 81st and 86th minutes, with two shots that were fired just wide of the post – but the visitors had already done enough for the victory.
