The Bees:

2020 started in perfect fashion as the Bees were able to run out 2-0 winners over London City Lionesses, who currently occupy 4th position where Lee Burch’s side will hope to finish come the end of the season.

Two early goals in the first half was enough to see the Bees earn a deserved three points after goals from Ellie Wilson, just ten minutes into the game and Amelia Hazard in the twentieth, ensured that they ran out winners over their London rivals.

The Opposition:

The Rooks, founded in 2002, have had much success on the pitch since then and now find themselves in the FA Women’s Championship where they proudly pay and treat both the men’s and women’s team equally and are the only club in the world to do this.

A run of difficult fixtures has been tough for Lewes as of late having played Tottenham and West Ham in cup competitions with both teams in the Women’s Super League as well as the top three teams in the Women’s Championship.

This leaves them in 8th position which is one place higher than their highest ever finish in the women’s football pyramid.

The Manager: Simon Parker

This Sunday’s fixture against London Bees will be Simon Parker’s first game as manager for Lewes having stepped up from his role as assistant manager in the wake of the departure of Fran Alonso.

Parker was brought in by Alonso back in 2018 but before this, he managed Southampton Women FC where over a four-year career, he amassed a win percentage of 88%

Last time we met:

It was a game to remember last time we took on today’s hosts as we ran out 2-1 winners in an even contest at The Hive London. Dani Lane gave the Rooks the lead with a curling effort before Amelia Hazard levelled things going into half time. The second half was a different story as Lauren Pickett gained us the points with a goal midway through the second period.
