Bees midfielder Amelia Hazard was delighted that her goal helped secure the Bees a point against London rivals Charlton Athletic.

Hazard pounced in the six-yard box to poke home in the 90th minute, to level the score in the 1-1 draw and the timing couldn’t have been better.

Our midfielder shared her delight with being able to get on the scoresheet against the Addicks.

“It won’t be the best goal I’ve ever scored but I’ll take it! We’re happy with a point and we’ll build on that next week. It felt really good to be able to score a big late goal and come away with a point.

“Obviously when they had ten players we felt we should have kicked on and scored but that’s football sometimes.”

The Bees found it hard to break down their visitors in what was a very similar game to the cup clash a fortnight before.

However, as always Hazard was keen to take the positives out of the result ahead of a tough run of fixtures to come.

“It wasn’t our best performance in the first half-hour, but in the last 15 minutes of the first half we picked up a bit, created some chances and in the second half we started strongly.

“We tried to make the most of Charlton being down to ten but we found them hard to break down.”

Ahead of the visit of league leaders Aston Villa on Sunday (1st December), the midfielder expressed her excitement at playing in another big match.

Although Hazard has plenty of respect for our upcoming opponents, she is encouraging her teammates to attack the game with determination and no fear.

“They are obviously flying at the moment, so it will be a tough match, but we know we are capable of beating anyone in this division.”

” We fear absolutely nobody and we are on home soil, so we will go out there with confidence and give it everything that we have.”
