London Bees will face two new opponents in this year’s FA Women’s Championship campaign. Newly promoted Coventry United Ladies and Blackburn Rovers Ladies will provide Bees’ fans with two new away trips, as both clubs embark on their debut campaigns in the second division of women’s football.

Here’s some information about the two clubs joining the FAWC:

Coventry United Ladies

Home ground: Butts Park Arena

Manager: Jay Bradford

Last season: Champions – FA Women’s National League South

Coventry United join the Women’s Championship on the back of a historic campaign as they won the Women’s National League south. The Red and Green army only saw their side lose just once in the regular season, as they finished seven points clear of Cardiff City Ladies. However, they finished second-best in a resulting play-off final against National League North winners Blackburn Rovers, despite that Coventry will be looking to stamp their authority in the second division of the women’s game.

Blackburn Rovers Ladies

Home ground: Sir Tom Finney Stadium (Bamber Bridge Football Club)

Manager: Gemma Donnelly

Last season: Champions – FA Women’s National League North / Women’s National League play-off winners.

Blackburn Rovers come into their first season in the FA Women’s Championship following a hugely exciting 2018/19 campaign. Rovers scored 115 goals in the regular season as they comfortably ran away with National North Premier Division, losing just one game in the process. They then capped a wonderful season, with a 3-0 win over Coventry United in the play-off final. Donnelly’s side will be hoping to continue their free-flowing style of football next season.
